R. Fred Pitts

   2016-2017 Governor

   Kiwanis Club of Tupelo, Miss.

Fred Pitts of Tupelo, Mississippi, was elected as Governor of the Louisiana-Mississippi-West Tennessee District of Kiwanis International at the 98th Annual District Convention in Shreveport, La., in August, 2016.

A 46-year member of the Tupelo Club, Fred served as President of Tupelo Club in 2004-2005. 

Fred served as a Distinguished Lt. Governor in 2005-2006 and 2006-2007, and as a Trustee on the District Board from 2008-2011.  He was President of the Kiwanis District Foundation in 2007-2008, and has served on Executive Committee of Past District Officers Organization from 2014-2016. He was first introduced to the Kiwanis Family as a member of the Circle K at Mississippi College in Clinton, Miss. He is a John T. Roberts Fellow and Walter Zeller Fellow. 

Outside of Kiwanis, Fred is owner of SafeStore of Tupelo, Inc. in Tupelo, Mississippi. He served on Tupelo City Council as President from 2009-2013. He is a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Community Development Foundation and supporter of Yocona Boy Scouts. 

Fred and his wife Carol of 53 years have two sons and two grandchildren.
